Have It Handmade

Greetings, blogosphere.

Yes, I'm still alive. Last time I checked, anyway. I've more or less abandoned this blog and the Internet in general so I can devote myself to other pursuits. Read more about where the heck have i been?

My kids love to share. Mostly pestulence and bacteria. Gage came down with a nasty cold last weekend and spent the next five days coughing in my face all day, all night. So the two of us have spent the week alone in the foxhole while Daddy is at work and Big Brother is at school. Read more about 4 of the 5 kind birthday tee

kyndal cupcake skirt

Okay, so, now that I just wrote this whole big long blathering post about how I'm not Dana and I'm cool with that?

I totally made one of her skirts.

*snicker*

But I did it all by myself. Without her pattern. Because I am ridiculously cheap frugal and I just can't bear to spend eight bucks for a pdf file. It just feels like giving someone money to watch their video on YouTube. And that would be silly. Read more about kyndal cupcake skirt

bama baby ruffle butt

A few months ago, my friend Mikki asked for my help. She recently married into a "Bama Family" and would be attending her first home game in October. Also attending would be their first baby, scheduled to arrive this spring. And because of her "condition," she was having trouble finding suitable Bama fan wear. Sure, the university store was generous enough to carry two or three tops in maternity sizes, but like most maternity gear, they were sadly lacking in style. Mikki wanted to know if I could turn one of her favorite maternity t-shirts into something suitable for the occasion. Read more about bama baby ruffle butt

Yes, I've been MIA lately. Suffice to say, I am not a great fan of The Holiday Season and/or Winter and the fact I've been able to function at all is nothing short of a miracle. Yes, I did a lot of holiday/winter-related sewing this month, and hopefully I'll get around to sharing it with you at some point before June. For now, however, let me just say, I'm glad it's (almost) all over, and I'm looking forward to January and the slow but sure gain in "minutes of daylight" to come. Only 152 days til Memorial Day!!! the princess project

A friend of mine recently requested a dragon tail for her nephew, and wondered if I could make a couple of princess hats for her nieces, as well. Obviously, I don't have a lot of experience in the princess realm. Besides being the mother of very un-princessy boys, I never got into the princess thing when I was a kid. I played dress-up, yes, but mostly I just had tea parties with my cat and made her ride in my baby buggy while I pushed her up and down our block. (Yeah, I didn't have a lot of friends...okay, fine--I didn't have any friends.) Read more about the princess project

I originally planned this quilt to be part of my Holiday Mart inventory. Of course, when push came to shove, I couldn't get it all finished in time, and no one wants to buy a quilt top these days.

I did end up finishing it, about a week after the Holiday Mart. Read more about christmas tree strip quilt

If you follow me on Twitter, you know I did a lot of tweeting at an ungodly hour of the morning today because I participated for the first time ever in "Black Friday." (No, that's not a Tyler Perry movie.) Read more about black friday: the ugly truth

Elf Laundry

Before the big Holiday Mall, I was trying to come up with ideas for Christmasy-type things to make. I like Advent calendars, but I was trying to think of something different from the ones I'd already made.

I had a small bit of fabric left over from another project--ruby red and just-off-white striped knit, with a little gold sparkle woven in between the stripes. Read more about Elf Laundry

christmas crap

From the looks of things, a WHOLE LOT of people have completely forgotten about Thanksgiving this year. Which is sad, because I love me some turkey and Stove Top stuffing. And mashed potatoes. And gravy. And pie. Mmmmm...pieRead more about christmas crap
