I apologize if you're sick of this photo. I, personally, can't get enough of it.

So remember when I said the toddler was sick? Yeah, well, he likes to share. And this time, he gave me something that knocked me on my ass for a good week-and-a-half. So I've barely done anything. At all. Last Friday night, I even passed on a trip to the thrift store because I just didn't feel like it. I know! Read more about mini-freakout and miscellany

Today's post isn't going to be at all exciting. Gage came down with some coughing, hacking yuck last weekend, and guess who he decided to share it with?

Yup.

So I spent the first part of last week home with sick Gage, and the last part of the week sick at home with improving Gage. Today, I feel like crap on burned toast, and me and still-milking-it-Gage are sick of each other. Adding insult to injury, I'm supposed to report to work tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. for a high school science assignment.

My kids love to share. Mostly pestulence and bacteria. Gage came down with a nasty cold last weekend and spent the next five days coughing in my face all day, all night. So the two of us have spent the week alone in the foxhole while Daddy is at work and Big Brother is at school. Read more about 4 of the 5 kind birthday tee

Long ago (longer ago than I can remember, actually), I picked up this piece of fabric out of the remnant bin at Joann. It's some kind of stretchy poly knit, which I'm sure will be a total bitch to sew. But that blend can't be beat for drape and non-wrinkling goodness, and I loved the print.  Read more about dress-up with tammy

After spending an afternoon putting on the daisy dress and pinning it and taking it off and sewing it and putting it back on and pinning it some more and taking it off and sewing it and you get the idea, right? Fitting clothes is a process without a dummy. Not to mention I didn't have a full-length mirror, either, and had to stand up on a chair I pulled into the living room so I could see myself in the wall mirror. Read more about meet my dummy! Guess what I got in the mail today?

A Target credit card bill? Yes. An announcement that another lady with a very unfortunate name has joined a local real estate office? That, too. And THIS:

About this time last year, when I was doing my annual holy-crap-I-wish-spring-were-here dance, I went to a thrift store on my lunch break to buy some shirts. Basic men's button-front shirts, which I later turned into dresses for my niece.

While I was there, I remembered all the nifty "repurpose that Godawful thrift store dress" ideas I'd seen around the internet, so I started looking at the dresses. And I found one that is truly hideous but the fabric said SPRING! and so I bought it. Read more about so i have this dress...

Okay, so, now that I just wrote this whole big long blathering post about how I'm not Dana and I'm cool with that?

I totally made one of her skirts.

*snicker*

But I did it all by myself. Without her pattern. Because I am ridiculously cheap frugal and I just can't bear to spend eight bucks for a pdf file. It just feels like giving someone money to watch their video on YouTube. And that would be silly. Read more about kyndal cupcake skirt

Sometimes, validation comes from the most unlikely sources.

Like Twitter.

Oh, I know--all us social media-lites are only on the Twitter and the Bookface and the Google for validation because we're a bunch of attention whores and the internet is the grown-folks' version of jumping up and down yelling "Look at me! Look at me! Look at me!" But I'm talking about real validation, not just confirmation your jokes are funny.  Read more about i gotta be meeeeeee
